Could you also provide the original name of the installer you downloaded from sf.net?

Currently there are two installer builds listed in
<http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/inkscape/0.48.3.1/>:
- Inkscape-0.48.3.1-1.exe (older one)
- Inkscape-0.48.3.1-2.exe (newer one)

Please confirm which one of the two you downloaded and used to install Inkscape 0.48.3.1 for Windows.

I'm using Japanese.

I confirmed the following.
- Inkscape-0.48.3.1-1.exe
- Inkscape-0.48.3.1-2.exe
Both are the same results.

Inkscape-0.48.2-1-win32.exe is no problem.

This may well be a GTK issue on Windows (similar to bug #999422 and bug #942475) with hiding and showing controls.

When you start the app, the Select toolbar shows x,y,w,h for any selected object correctly.
But if you then switch to another tool, then back to the Select tool the x,y,w,h values disappear.

Windows 7 / Inkscape r11558.

I add "LANG" to the system environment variable.
And set en to it. (i.e. LANG en)
Then values were displayed.

Would be this language problem?

Reproduced on Windows XP, Inkscape 0.48.4 and trunk revision 12113.
Steps:
1. Open a command line interface and type 'set LANG=ja_JP'.
2. Run inkscape from the CLI.
3. Steps from bug description.

Not reproduced with the (very) experimental GTK+3 devlibs.

Changed in inkscape:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Triaged

I have got same problem; but you can fix it as follows

Control panel -> Language -> Form ? (形式) -> choose English (not Jap or any other languages).

Enjoy it!!

Yes, as I wrote above, I know that it works with English.

You must not use "Jap". You should use "Japanese".
Please be careful, because of it, the problem may happen to you.

Thanks for your answer!
