Bug Description
I am a new user and new in graphics design. Today, I saw that Inkscape (latest versoin) can't handle EPS (Encapsulated Post Script) files where Adobe Illustrator can handle EPS with ease.
So I would request developers to enable support for EPS files as soon as possible.
Thanks

Inkscape does support opening PostScript files (PS/EPS), but - as described in the FAq, in the manual [1] and elsewhere - it depends on having Ghostscript installed (PostScript files are converted to PDF on-the-fly using ps2pdf from GjostScript, and the PDF file is then opened using internal routines).

[1] «.eps (Encapsulated PostScript) Requires Ghostscript with the utility ps2pdf in your “PATH”. The EPS file is converted to PDF first and then imported. Versions prior to v0.47 require pstoedit. The same options as for PDF import are available.»
