Bug Description

I frequently make several drawings in one file. It's convenient especially when I make several versions of one graphic (for example: a logo in several versions of several similiar graphics ).

I think it might be useful to make a n option to make a layer a "helper" layer. Helper layer would be unvisible in exported graphics.

So it's a layer that automatically turns invisible, when you render a PNG file - so you don't have to hide it everytime yiu export stuff.

I use these helper layers by creating color semi-transparent rectangles that define export region.

Right now I have to unhide that layer, select the bounding box, hide it so the box won't render on top of my drawing, render stuff.

It's not a big pain, but a toggleable "HELPER LAYER" mode could be a nice feature.

Is it something that can be done we the web slicer extension? (see http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Extensions-Web.html#Extensions-Web-Slicer).

Changed in inkscape:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
tags: added: exporting ui
removed: rendering visibility
