Long gradient name causes the document to be unusable

When gradient names get very long (it happens often when you copy objects) the fill settings pane and any other window attached to it gets so large you can no longer edit the document - because more than half of the screen is hidden behind that window. It's a very old bug, I'm surprised it isn't yet fixed, because it makes some SVG files unsuable and completely broken in Inkscape. It's a bug, not a wish (I saw that some reports from 2010 were set as wishlist - it shouldn't be wish, because it's broken behaviour).
