Bug Description
I am running 0.48 on OS X 10.6.8 and installed an OpenType font family (Zamenhof) that has 5 typefaces (College, Inline, Inverse, Outline and Solid) using Mac's Font Book application. I have access to all 5 typefaces in other applications including OpenOffice. In Inkscape, the Fonts list in the Text and Fonts Dialog only has one entry that uses the first typeface (College). The other 4 typefaces are not available.
I looked at the fonts.config file to make sure all the font directories are listed. I installed the 5 typefaces in multiple directories (Computer, User). And to no avail. This is all I know to check.
I experience the same, for example with the free font "Orbitron" found under [0] (so developers have something to test against). It uses the variants light, medium, bold and black. Others like "Lavanderia" [1] use more exotic names, but I guess once a general system to handle these is in place the fancyness of the wording doesn't matter.
This is with a compile of revision 12701.
