Bug Description

AMD64 machine with Nvidia card hibernates successfully but on resuming, says "resuming from disk uuid=(correct partition)" and pauses for about 20 seconds and then fails and goes through a normal boot. I have a clean install of Karmic on another partition and that resumes as expected (with the same swap partition).

uname -a
Linux dreamland 2.6.32-16-generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 9 16:33:12 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

cat /proc/version_signature
Ubuntu 2.6.32-16.25-generic

cat /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume
RESUME=UUID=5f6cb22a-fa72-4da7-b14e-53e39d9bf153

cat /etc/fstab | grep swap
/dev/sdc2 none swap sw 0 0

ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid/ | grep sdc2

from dmesg on failed resume:
[ 24.534697] Restarting tasks ... done.
[ 24.538093] PM: Basic memory bitmaps freed
[ 24.538096] PM: Resume from disk failed.

Just tried hibernation for no real reason and it works! Still the same kernel, initramfs has been updated (I think) to 0.92bubuntu67. Other than that I am not aware of anything else changing but I can now resume (once at least!) with Beta 1.

First round of updates since Beta 1 and it is now no longer resuming again :-( Attaching new dmesg...

Reverted to initramfs-tools (and -bin) 0.92bubuntu67 and resume works again.
Some (re-)appears in 0.92ubuntu69 that prevents resuming again.

Hmm, failing again. Some other update I can't put my finger on is stopping this resume working. Interestingly when I login the Network Manager Applet has "Enable Networking" unchecked. When the resume worked this was not the case and it "remembered" that I wanted to use my network. Does anyone know what update is likely to make that change (and possibly affect a working resume)?

Now with kernel 2.6.32-17 the system will hibernate and resume successfully once, however when it tries to resume a second time it fails, booting as normal. When logged it the network connection is unavailable as "Enable Networking" is unchecked. This happens regardless of whether initramfs-tools 0.92-67, -69 or -70 is installed. Unsure what to test next but quite happy to run anything anyone cares to suggest.

Multiple resumes now work again! Kernel 2.6.32-19 and initramfs-tools 0.92-71 installed and I have managed to hibernate/resume several times successfully.
