Bug Description

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

Karmic's indicator-applet-session crashed.

No clear idea what triggered it. Apport reports:

I'm having the same bug. The indicator-applet-session crashes every time on gnome startup. Then, if it is reloaded, all works well. Apport refuses to produce a bug report, saying: "The program crashed on an assertion failure, but the message could not be retrieved"

On my system the same problem occurs, but it always happens after closing a session and start another.

My system is in Spanish, and the message appears after trying to send the error is as follows:

After the applet just crashed apport popped up and collected some information.

(It still failed to file a bug but apport-unpack helped here)

I was happy that now there seems to be some more useful backtrace.

This started happening today for me when I log in. (fully up to date box as of sept. 28.

When in Gnome-Shell, it takes the entire DE down. Not in normal Gnome.

However sometimes Gnome freezes on start-up, happens every few boots. It could be related.

This is a UI bug that would bug people to death. Therefore, the dev team needs to get to work. Such a bug should not remain open for two or more days... especially since there is not a whole lot of code to look through compared to something like firefox or openoffice. Correct me if I am wrong.
