show different color of icon for different apps

hallo, I have ubuntu lucid and there is envelope icon in notify area, but when notify occurs the envelope icon changes color to green, but this color is same for Evolution and Empathy

I think, the color should be differrent for differrent apps

Good idea. Going one step further, maybe there is a way to change the shape of the icon as well so that the difference is more noticeable by more people.

As far as colour goes, off the top of my head I would suggest green for a new message and orange for a new email. That makes email more important than chat...maybe there is a way to incorporate both ideas in the resulting various states in a logical manor. Icon-wise, it would be tricky but perhaps worth the effort.
