2010-12-16 17:07:02 frizzle21 description The current implementation of the me menu bundles the user status menu with the logout menu, which adds two very different menus together, forcing the user to keep the user status menu even if they only want the logout one. I propose you separate the two into two separate binary packages, which allows the installation of the logout menu without installing gwibber + couch, which is required for the status menu. My use cases are as follows: Corey is a non-user of gwibber on an older laptop and wishes to not run desktop-couch in the background to save even the amount of ram it consumes. Mary is an older computer user, also a non-user of gwibber, who has challenges with operating the mouse. The status menu frequently confuses her because she it pops up with things she doesn't understand. Corey is unable to remove the status menu to simplify her panel because that would remove the ability to logout. For the average desktop user, this would exactly zero effect, it would merely allow non-users of gwibber to be able to remove this non-essential application without removing an essential portion of their desktop, the logout menu. I propose you separate the two into two separate binary packages [indicator-me, indicator-session], which allows the installation of the logout menu [Session Menu] without installing gwibber + couch, which is required for the status menu [Me Menu].
