online/offline indicator icon does not change

I have a fresh Maverick install, the indicator-me version is 0.2.10-0ubuntu1.
The online/offline indicator icon on the panel does not change (it stays offline all the time) if I change the status in the dropdown menu. Actually changing the status works, i.e. the status is changed also in empathy, only the icon stays the same (offline). It is similar to the #538923 bug, although that has been fixed a while ago ...

Any help would be appreciated.

Just noticed: in fact none of the icons gets updated - the sound icon stays the same, even the clock is frozen. Maybe this is not an indicator-me bug?

Gregor, are you able to reproduce this? How many times have you seen this? To me it looks like problem is somewhere else than in indicator-me.

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this right now, because I switched to
using AWN instead of the GNOME panel.
In fact what I may have forgot to mention in the BUG report is that
this behavior started when I resized the (upper) Panel to a smaller
size (to be only on the upper right corner of the screen).
If you wish I can try to reproduce this later on my home computer?

Gregor, providing more information always helps. But if you are not using gnome panel anymore, maybe it's better to close this bug.
