Text Hint ("Post to..") not always hidden when the broadcast field is in use

In certain circumstances, the hint printed on the broadcast field background can stay even if the entry is focused and used to type a message.

To reproduce:
1. open the menu, notice the "Post to: ..." hint in the broadcast field
2. hover over the menu up to the "About me" entry
3. hover back and select the broadcast field

Error: the hint stays in the field and what the user types is just added at the end of the "Post to: ..." text
Expected: the hint should be hidden and the user able to type a new message in an empty text entry

The problem he is then entry widget gets the grab-focus and focus-out event at the same time. When it gets the grab-focus event it clears the hint, and if the length of text in the entry is 0 when it gets the focus-out event it adds the hint. So the problem is we are getting the focus-out event before focus leaves the entry widget. I haven't been able to figure out why, I assume it is a gtk bug, but i guess it could be ido or even dbusmenu.

I agree with Pavol. I recently wanted to post something to facebook, and just remembered I could use the me menu rather than open my browser and go to facebook etc.

I started typing, realised I had to erase the "post to", and spent some time trying to select the text by mouse or double click. I couldn't select the text with either so I had to hold down delete.

Out of 100 ways to post to facebook (via website, my igoogle page, my cell phone, via text message...etc) that was by far the most aggravating and time consuming. I'm not going to use the Me Menu again until this is fixed - and I think many people who are using the Me Menu for the first time will think the same thing too. This should be a high priority bug (at least for the Me Menu) because it completely ruins the experience of its main feature.

The text stays in the field always, except for deleting the text. Quite annoying, think it should have a high importance.

This bug was fixed in the package indicator-me - 0.2.15-0ubuntu1

If I click to broadcast field the hint hide.
But if I click to MeMenu and input some text from keyboard the hint not hidden.

The fix for this was too invasive to backport to maverick and as of oneiric indicator-me is no longer supported.
