Use Prettier Icons

Bug Description

indicator-keylock should use symbolic icons to properly blend in with any theme. At the very least, it should provide monochromatic icons rather than the current ones in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/22x22/status/ which stand out.

I'd be more than willing to help squash this bug.

I've made some for myself that fit with the elementary theme, they're attached here. You're free to use/adapt/distribute these however you see fit, or to ignore them. :)

I definitely want to have nicer icons for it, especially for the ubuntu-mono themes, but it's on the backburner unless someone wants to submit them, as I'm not the best at image creation.

Hi Scott, I really love this indicator, specially since a lot of vendors decided those leds are not useful in the laptops.

I've recently made the ubuntu-mono-dark indicator with the color schema from the latest ubuntu 14.04 icons. They were made using the default keyboard language indicator as base.

I could make the ubunto-mono-light if asked.

Carkis, thank you, they look great. I'd love if you wanted to make an ubuntu-mono-light set as well, and I'll get the icons added to the icons repository soon.

Hi Scott

Love this indicator now and look forward to a newer version displaying multiple indicators in future.

Thanks also to Carkis for the great Ubuntu-mono icons !
I have extracted the svg images but can't work out how to make the app use these. Where do they have to go ??
Will you help me please ?

Hi Franz
To use the svg images cd into the folder where the icons are and copy them to the status/22 and status/22 folders

For example (if using the ubuntu-mono-dark-icons):

sudo cp * /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-dark/status/22
sudo cp * /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-dark/status/24

Hey! very good icons! at least the ubuntu-mono-dark set that is the one I've set up.

Why aren't they included by default in the app? would be too much effort to let the user at least to select which set of icons he/she wants to have??

They're included in the indicator-keylock-icons packages, and it gets the icons from the current icon theme. Given the amount of icon themes that default to the GNOME icon theme for missing icons, I think what's needed most at the moment is symbolic icons that match the GNOME/Adwaita icon themes.

The elementary, Humanity, and ubuntu-mono iconsets are included in the main package now, for the sake of simplicity.

I can't find any "indicator-keylock-icon" package on my repos :(

Furthermore, I don't know how to get the last version of indicator-keylock, as I asked here: https://answers.launchpad.net/indicator-keylock/+question/271687

You can add the ppa on most recent versions of Ubuntu:

apt-add-repository ppa:tsbarnes/indicator-keylock

That'll get you the latest version.

Having indicator-keylock 3.0.2 in vivid, it doesn't show the ubuntu-mono-dark theme as they're supposed to use, instead, it shows the ugly ones :(
