Bug Description
Hello. I've noticed my computer's memory use suddenly spinning out of control under Ubuntu 10.04, and had to do a bit of digging around to find out what's going on.
At first, I thought it was a LinuxAteMyRam situation, but my system actually only has 1 gig of 4 "-/+ buffers/cache" which is absolutely silly with no applications running except Gnome and my menubars (3).
In any case, System Monitor is reporting that indicator-applet is using 2.3GB of memory and 15-20% CPU. Note that I have only one chat account "attached" (A gtalk chat), 0 email, and 0 "broadcast" accounts.
In fact, just now, as I opened the menu to verify, indicator-applet spun out of control, allocating an additional 1GB of memory to itself and not allowing any of my other applications to run.
I consider myself pretty "expert" or at least "very experienced" with OPERATING Linux, but not so much on debugging it. Let me know what other data you need and I'll see if I can get it for you.
This is a recurring issue; if the applet is killed and reboots itself, the massive memory leak is cleared and computer chugs along happily. But over the next 20 hours or so the leak builds until it's consuming 2-3GB of memory again.
