Bug Description

I often (say, every couple of days) see a problem on my machine where the indicator applet icons (network, sound, etc) are misplaced or duplicated. Often I have just half an icon, or a duplicate icon with one active and the other inactive. For example, as I type, I see two sound control icons. The one on the left works (menu/etc). The one on the right doesn't. Sometimes I see this duplicate icon shifted by half an icon's width (or thereabouts) from the original. Sometimes I see only half of an active icon, as it's obscured by the next icon (to the left). Basically, there's a bug with positioning the icons when my system first boots. I have a screenshot capture to show the effect.
When I click on any icon in the indicator panel and choose move, the panel as a whole (with the erroneous/half icon) moves too.
This is an intermittent bug. A reboot will often see all my indicator icons working correctly.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04, completely up to date with updates. I'm running on a Dell Latitude E5400 laptop.
I have hardware drivers for NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 173) installed, and also the Broadcom STA driver for wireless.
I have Compiz visual effects enabled (system/preferences/appearances/visual effects set to Extra)

Whoops, sorry about the whole-screen shot.
Also, I misread the NVIDIA version. The version active is 'NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current) [Recommended]'
