Configuration options?

Bug Description

Hi there. The indicator applet is very useful. I'm using v 0.1 in karmic beta. Could you please consider adding some configuration options, such as choosing between showing the real name instead of the username, or select if some entries in the main menu are shown or not. For example. I'd like to hide "Guest Session", "Hybernate", etc. By having this option we could avoid problems such as clicking by mistake in "Hybernate" on a computer for which Ubuntu does not support it well.

TIA

Ignacio

Thanks for your feedback on our new indicator infrastructure, and the session menu in particular.

By design we try to avoid configuration options in our new menus. We prefer to implement these options in the system settings, next to the feature they are related to.

You're feedback on the organization of the menu and the importance you attach to the different options is interesting for the Design team.

Changed in indicator-applet:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Triaged

I'm using Ubuntu since 7.10 and was aware of any "centralised" system-settings program.
After reading this bug i've found it in the software center. So I think at least the (new?) system-settings should get installed on upgrade even if previously unselected...

Ok. The "system settings" program from software center is for KDE :-(
Thus i've got to ask: where exactly can i disable the display of the current user name?

Oh my, after some further aimless searching, i think i've misunderstood David's comment. System settings is no seperate tool, but the "System" menu, right (did not get that, because of course i searched there before my first comment)?

Then the correct question is: where does one find the settings concering the confirmation dialogs and the display of the username in the system-settings menu?
