Follow up to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1081904 , I'm opening this bug to track the ethernet issue.

Ethernet doesn't work on snowball with linux-linaro/mainline.
DT isn't enabled (issue tracked on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1088504).

WRT linux-linaro,
if you maintain a git branch with these patches, and this branch is based on more or less recent mainline tree, please post the link here or email it to me. If there is no such git branch, but a set of patches, then please attach them to this bug, or email me - whatever you prefer.

Sorry for the delay, I had to fix a non-booting issue on Snowball.

The tb-ethernet branch has been merged into linux-linaro tree.
With the config made by:

ARCH=arm scripts/kconfig/merge_config.sh linaro/configs/linaro-base.conf linaro/configs/ubuntu-minimal.conf linaro/configs/u8500.conf

- the resulting kernel boots to the prompt (throwing out a few error messages), and the ethernet is operational.
See the attached log.

U-Boot 2013.01.-rc1 is a must to use dtb (earlier revisions don't pass dtb to the kernel; embedding the dbt works, but it adds more steps to building the kernel - jenkins jobs would need to be changed to use this option).

When starting using dtb for snowball a few days ago, I had problems with booting from sd card (endless mmc errors). So this log is for emmc. Haven't tried sd with the ll-20130114.0 tree though.

Forgot to mention that after generating the .config from the config fragments, I've also enabled HIMEM to get 323584K more RAM available.

I am going to mark this as fix committed in the Igloocommunity project.

Booting from sd also works, though there are more mmc errors.
