Search field off the edge, brainstorm page layout

Bug Description
I do not see any search field with a firefox window ca 670 px wide. There is something to the right of the header, but there is no horizontal scrollbar so I can not side-scroll to it.
After disabling CSS I do have a horizontal scroll and can see a search field (but the page is then ugly as hell, of course).
Suggestion: do not disable automatic horizontal scroll (if that is what has been done) or chang layout directives to adapt to window size (maybe let search field wrap into view).
