Bug Description

When I stat iCopy I am guided to register WIA:

WIA Automation isn't registered in your system. Click Ves if you want iCopy to register it for you or No if you don't want to register it. iCopy will be closed after you click.

When I click yes to register WIA I get a dialog box that states:

Vou have to chose a scanner. Click Ves to chose the scanner, or No to close iCopy.

When I check Yes, I get the register WIA dialog again.
WIA Automation isn't registered in your system. Click Ves if you want iCopy to register it for you or No if you don't want to
register it. iCopy will be closed after you click.

This repeats indefinetly.

I only have one scanner attached to my computer and it is operational. I can use Irfanview to scan items. In Irfanview it allows me to select the TWAIN source. When I access this menu for selection it shows 3 TWAIN sources. The other two are USB devices that are not currectly connected to my system.

Thanks in advance for your support,

DG

As a workaround, please try to register manually wiaaut.dll by doing the following:

Copy the file wiaaut.dll in iCopy folder to C:\WINDOWS\system32\ (if not already present)
Run a Command Prompt with adiministrator rights
Type cd C:\WINDOWS\system32\ and press Enter
Type regsvr32 wiaaut.dll and press Enter

  • Logs.zip Edit (173.5 KiB, application/x-zip-compressed; name="Logs.zip")

Now it reports no scanner connected...

I ran the WMI utility... but I guess I not very familiar with this area of
windows... I have enclosed the log files

Thanks in advance for your help,

DG Bear

If the scanner isn't recognized it means it is not compatible with WIA interface, that is different from TWAIN. The only thing you can try is updating your scanner driver from the manufacturer website.

I have been using my scanner with iCopy for years until 2 weeks ago. Then I started getting the WIA Automation Layer message and iCopy wouldn't start successfully. There is only one device driver for the HP scanner and nothing has changed with it.

Have you tried with the last version of iCopy? Otherwise try to manually register the library, maybe it got corrupted somehow.
