Actually, the tangerine menu item is under System->Preferences, which is
correct, considering it's actually for tangerine-properties which is a
configuration dialog for Tangerine. What desktop environment, locale and distro
are you using? Perhaps the wording for the "Preferences" menu item is wrong in
the desktop environment you are using.

I have Ubuntu 10.04, fr locale.

So in Software-Center i have :

- Tangerine-icon-theme and derived in "System".
- Tangerine under Theme and Optimizations "It's called media sharer tangerine" and at the bottom it's written it's tangerine.

 I don't have the package called "tangerine-properties".

tangerine-properties is the name of the program that shows the configuration
dialogue and resides in the "tangerine" properties.

The categories that are listed in tangerine-properties' desktop file is:
Categories=Application;Settings;Music;X-SuSE-ControlCenter-System;

I guess that means that ubuntu-software-center is classifying it wrongly, or at
least naming their "Settings" section wrongly? I'm opening an software-center
task for further discussion.

Following <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter#Genre>, Ubuntu Software Center puts anything with "Categories=Settings" into the "Themes & Tweaks" department.

If tangerine-properties is the only visible interface for Tangerine, then I suggest it should have "Categories=AudioVideo", not "Categories=Settings".

This bug is triaged, as per comment #4. Changing "Categories=Settings" to "Categories=AudioVideo" will fix this issue.

The attached branch contains a patch that changes "Settings" to "Audio" and has been proposed for merger.

The change was committed but Tangerine still doesnt seem to come up under Sound & Video in the software center.
