Bug Description

The Fedora guys did some brilliant work on improving the appearance and behavior of tooltips in Fedora 12:

"GTK+ tooltips have traditionally been yellowish, and have a strong smell of Windows 3.x. In Fedora 12, they will come in a fresh blue, with nice rounded corners and a touch of translucency. We have also improved the positioning algorithm to avoid covering the tool that the tip refers to, as well as appear in a more predictable position." (http://blogs.fedoraproject.org/wp/mclasen/2009/10/26/5-little-things/)

As this great work is landing upstream and should be available in time for Lucid, we should be sure to make Ubuntu's tooltips consistent with Ubuntu's unique look at feel.

Will the tooltip only be improved for Ubuntu or also for Kubuntu?

Kubuntu are free to use the same design but it's up to them, really :)

The tooltips are rounded now and the color is kept consistent with the notify-osd color.
Marking bug as fixed.

The positioning algorithm is probably a separate bug.

After updating to Maverick tooltips are yellow again. They used to be black in Lucid. What's up with that? Or is it just me?

Arek: Can you provide a screenshot. It might be the case that it's simply been dropped in the themeing?

Thanks. I can see it is theme dependent, so probably it was dropped from Human theme (?)
If this is how it is supposed to work now, then I'm fine ;)
