Thanks for your bug report. The naming of the store has already been extensively discussed (please find appropriate threads on Ubuntu mailing lists) and no changes are currently planned.

While it's likely that developers are aware of this, I just want to make sure it's clear that users strongly dislike the use of the word "store" in the name. Ubuntu Brainstorm[1] is an especially convincing example, with Software Center at a positive 493 and Software Store at -261. This probably won't change developer consensus, but, ya know, I'm just sayin'.
