Bug Description
Problem:
The text that becomes highlighted when searching for text in gedit is difficult to unhighlight. This is annoying.
STR:
1. Bring up the find dialog
2. Type a string in the text box and click Find
3. Notice all instances of the string become highlighted
4. bring up the find dialog again
5. Delete everything in the text box
6. Notice the Find button is now disabled, so click Close
Expected results:
There should be nothing highlighted, as the textbox in the find dialog was cleared.
Actual results:
The original string is still highlighted.
Also opening up the find dialog a third time, the string is still present.
Notes:
In the menu bar there is Search > Clear Highlight (Shift+Ctrl+K) however after years of using Ubuntu/gedit I only discovered this today when I went to find the upstream bug for this.

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.
This is a bug in the program , Not a papercut.
A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10.
For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read > https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/PaperCut
Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as "invalid" ONLY in the papercuts project.
