The .cfg is generated on the fly; I would rather say; "game doesn't come with data";
but there's a solution for that.
$ cat /usr/share/ doc/opentyrian/ README. Debian ------- -------
opentyrian for Debian

This package only contains the opentyrian engine. The game data is non-free, but
can be downloaded free of charge.
To actually play the game, you need to install game-data-packager and run the
following command, which will download the data, build the tyrian-data debian
package, and install it.
game- data-packager -i tyrian
Or if you have a local copy:
game- data-packager -i tyrian /path/to/ tyrian21. zip
