Application launcher places wine programs in Lost & Found after update to kubuntu 15.04

I've updated my Kubuntu from 14.10(?) to 15.04 lately. The transition to KDE4 went really smooth. Great respect to all devs who made this possible.
I've found just one problem. After the update, the wine menu is no longer present in the application launcher. I'm also unable to create one on top level with the menu editor. All wine programs are now listed in the "Lost & Found" menu.

The wine program shortcuts are located here on my hard disk:
~/.config/menus/applications-merged/

If I search for "wine", there appears also an icon titled "run wine" but I haven't been able to locate it in the menus so far.

OK, adding a wine menu was actually easy. I've had to create a submenu anywhere and then move it to top level.
The "gerbv" package is also affected by this bug. It is also placed in the lost & found submenu. Even when removing and reinstalling by using sudo apt-get remove gerbv, sudo apt-get install gerbv.

To me, creating a submenu and moving it to the top level does not work. In fact, the KF5 menu editor seems to be quite badly broken. Submenus created with the menu editor do not appear at all in the menus, to say one. When menus are renamed, they retain the old name.directory filename, so that it is a mess to look for them. When menus are removed, the menu.directory file stays in place, so that along time one accumulates an amount of cruft that is unbelivable. The system seems to get confused with capitalization. It is impossible to add icons to submenus... and more.

The problem still exists on Kubuntu 16.04.

With a fresh install of Kubuntu 16.04, I proceeded to install wine with:

  sudo apt-get install wine

After this completed, I noticed in the Application Menu that all of the wine apps were listed under "Lost & Found" instead of "Wine" as they should have been.

The wine apps are:

  Browse C: Drive
  Configure Wine
  Notepad
  Uninstall Wine Software
  Winetricks

When I install a windows application using wine, such as Adobe Digital Editions, the new menu entries also show up under "Lost & Found".

I also tried pre-creating a "Wine" submenu at the top level with a "Programs" submenu beneath it before installing wine, but this made no difference.

I just found a workaround for this issue, and it works in kubuntu 16.04.

The workaround steps are:

1. Edit /etc/xdg/menus/kf5-applications.menu

2. After <DefaultMergeDirs/> add the following line:

   <MergeDir>applications-merged</MergeDir>

3. Save the file, and you might need to reboot to see the updated menus.

This problem was reported in KDE in the following upstream report.

I can confirm the workaround by Curtis works for me in 16.04.
