fastqc package doesn't list java as a dependency

$ fastqc 102517-21_ACAGTG_R1.fastq.gz -o fastqc/
Can't exec "java": No such file or directory at /usr/bin/fastqc line 256.

Installing default-jre solves this problem.

Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better.

I get the same error message when I attempt to run fastqc after installing it. As you mention, it works after installing Java manually.

I have forwarded this bug report to Debian and attached a bug watch.

fastqc 0.11.4+dfsg-3, which is available in Ubuntu 16.04, now depends on default-jre (http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/fastqc). Thus, this should be resolved.
