Workaround from the command line is 'sudo apt-get install steam' to install it, and running 'steam' to launch it.

Same here on a fresh 15.04 Ubuntu Gnome install.
N.B. this was a 64bit non uefi install.

Same workaround sorted ie install from cli.
Was then able to launch and run their own installer from the dash.

Very strange we have so few indications of this as this is a big deal.
N.B. I do have ipv6 issues here but this was disabled on both interfaces.

this should be high priority as it cant be hard to fix, the workaround from Stuart works perfect, but for noobs its should be in the software center and work easy. "Workaround from the command line is 'sudo apt-get install steam' to install it, and running 'steam' to launch it."

dobey (dobey)
no longer affects: software-center
