Bug Description

Upon connect of a bluetooth headset/speakers the pulse audio output is switched to the newly conncted device (correct and desireable), but the volume control in the panel does not go with it. The volume icon in the top-bar still shows and acts on the previous audio device (not active anymore), leaving the user with non-functional volume keys on the keyboard and incorrect volume indication. It pretty much defeats the usefulness of automatically switching to the bluetooth audio device if still user interaction is required to manually select the appropiate device in audio-settings to link the displayed volume icon and level control to the audio output that is actually used.
In my use case the speakers on the laptop are usually muted. Pairing the bluetooth headphone might result in far to high audio level blaring at me, but hitting the volume down key on the keyboard doesn't do anything (before i selected the volume control to act on the bluettoth headset).... can be quite annoying, even dangerous.

This issue has not received any follow-up for more than eight years. No Ubuntu package was assigned and more importantly there was no indication as to which release or flavour of Ubuntu was being used.

As the bug report was raised in 2014 the desktop environment was probably Unity which is no longer the default in current Ubuntu releases although Unity is still available in the Ubuntu repositories. I'm changing the status to "Incomplete" to allow for any comments should the reported issue still be valid in any of the current Ubuntu releases.

However, a package will need to be assigned in order for the issue to become known to the wider Ubuntu community and desktop developers as the "100 Papercuts" project is all but dead.
