and this is more obvious in the places sidebar in nautilus

in a 24 pixel gnome-panel, the visual difference between a full and an empty bin is difficult to spot and misleading. As I have a small screen on my laptop, I need to reduce the screen space of the panels - I guess the same would be true of most netbooks.
