Bug Description

Hi,
Ubuntu natty will use Banshee 2.0 by default, banshee creates the following directories:

~/Audiobooks
~/Podcasts

To follow the system theme (having custom icons for the Ubuntu directories in the home folder), it is important to create icons for these folders that match the other home directory icons.

This is also important for any distribution that supports Banshee.

This cannot be fixed in an icon theme. Simply adding the icon for those folders will not assign the icon to the folder. Closing the theme task.

This feature needs to be implemented in gvfs first.
When this feature is implemented in gvfs, kindly re-open the bug for the theme.

This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME .
Once submitted upstream , do report back here with the upstream bug number. Thanks in advance!

GNOME 3 doesn't use gvfs anymore, the new architecture is FUSE. I think Ubuntu will follow this change (as they already did with dconf/GSettings), but I can't find any blueprints mentioning that. Where can I ask if it's planned?

FUSE as in a "Filesystem in Userspace"?

Where is the launchpad/GNOME page?

GIO/ GVFS uses FUSE as a backend, to maintain compatibility with non-GIO applications and to share the same connection state between processes. There is no switch here, both goes hand in hand.

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

 - This is a feature request, and not a papercut.
For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut.
Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as "Invalid" only in the papercuts project.

It seems to me that if we rename the bug to "No icons for ~/Podcasts and ~/Audiobooks folders", this bug does meet papercut criteria.

Sergey "Shnatsel" Davidoff ,
No, re-titling the bug doesnt change anything. It's still a feature request in gvfs/FUSE.
As i mentioned in comment #1 , simply adding the icons will not solve anything. And we wont be adding icons in Humanity when there is no use for them.
This first needs to be done in gvfs/FUSE and only then can it be considered as a request in the icon theme, when it might be trivial.

summary: - [Feature-Request] Banshee Icons for Natty
+ Icons for ~/Podcasts and ~/Audiobooks folders
