Bug Description
Current: there seems to be no way to easily change the color of Gnome Nautilus folders for any purpose. I am using Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Netbook Remix. I am using human-icon-theme version 0.33.6ubuntu2.
Many emblems are too small and their shapes are too similar. Many emblems are not useful in distinguishing between folders at a glance.
Issue: I would like to use folder colors to easily and visually highlight my folders.
The Macintosh OS had the Label menu which I found very useful.
Contribution: I made copies of /usr/share/
Use: When I want to change a folder's color I use alt-enter to get the folder properties. Then I click the icon and select one of the .png files that I created.
It would be nice to see similar colored folders for Ubuntu themes.
Thank you for taking the time to make Ubuntu better. standards. freedesktop. org/icon- naming- spec/icon- naming- spec-latest. html . Since your suggestion would require non-default icons , adding them in the theme is not possible right now.
There are a few problems with your suggestion , currently icon themes ship only with icon names from : http://
And then we would have to think about making them easily accessible to the user, we cannot just add new folders and expect this feature to be easily identified for a new user either. Users can change the folder from properties , but how to make *these* colored icons available needs to be worked out. This needs fixing in nautilus and adding new icon names for such changes.
