Bug Description

Binary package hint: gtk2-engines-ubuntulooks

Ubuntulooks engine does not respect gtk-icon-sizes set in ~/.gtkrc-2.0, others engines do. I have gtk-icon-sizes="panel-menu=16,16:gtk-menu=16,16:gtk-button=16,16:gtk-small-toolbar=16,16:gtk-large-toolbar=16,16:gtk-dialog=32,32:gtk-dnd=32,32" in that file, but with ubuntulooks engine icons in gnome menu are still big (32x32), the same on buttons.

Same problem here..

Are there other ways to resize the menu icons? Because they really suck at the new big size.
Any suggestions?

First, I wish everyone a happy and productive new year!

I think this bug is more important than it looks at first glance.

Notebooks get mroe affordable with every passing day, but only high end laptops have high resolution LCDs. On a 1280x800 screen the personal settings menu witg 24x24 icons looks cluttered, scrolling becomes very easily annoying. I realize, there is effort to create a new compact theme for 1024x600 pix resolution netbooks, but they are not the only one to appreciate smaller icons and/or fonts.

I believe the bug comes from the fact, that the setting gtk-icon-sizes from the global Human theme gtkrc file takes precedense over the user defined style in ~/.gtkrc-2.0, which in my opinion is the wrong way around - it should be exactly the opsite. That's why I added the human-gtk-theme project as "affected". Haven't had any time on my hands yet to investigate, why the engine overrides user settings with global ones. But user settings (at least for the icon sizes) work again, when I delete the setting from /usr/share/themes/Human/gtk-2.0/gtkrc...

Hope, this will be changed soon.

Regards,
T.Todorov

ubuntulooks has been depricated. It is no longer developed in Ubuntu or as an upstream project. It has been superseded by gtk2-engines-murrine since intrepid, and it has been removed from the archive in lucid. Due to this, I am closing this bug as "Won't Fix."

Closing the human-gtk-theme task as it no longer uses ubuntulooks.
