Bug Description

This bug looks like 706513. The given solution doesn't work. I tried to avoid all illegal characters.

I use the discription http://hugin.sourceforge.net/tutorials/scans/en.shtml to stitch a lot of scans because the paper sheets are much longer than the A4 format.

I know I use an older version in the attached project file. I get the same results with the 2011.0.0 release.

With the 2010.4.0 I did the same panorama stitching work with good results. At some point it didn't work anymore.

Could you give me advice how to do the job with other parameter settings?

This is not the same as bug 706513 but thank you for trying to avoid duplicates.

The project file is the .pto, not the .pto.mk (Makefile). Can you please attach the .pto file to this tracker ticket?

Also, would you mind attaching the two input images?

Please change the status to New to attract attention once you have provided the requested information. To do so, hit the little yellow round button next to the current ticket status and select New.

Thanks

Yuv,

Thanks for your responce. I hope you can help me. Here is the project file. In the following comments I will attach the two scans that were input for the stitch project.

I quickly ran it through Hugin Pre-Release 2011.3.0.acafcb92e599 on Kubuntu
and it returned the same error as you got:

Changing projection output from rectilinear to cylindrical worked around the
issue. Then I load the cylindrical projection and reproject it to
rectilinear. Not nice, but should keep you going with your project while we
look at what causes the bug.

Nice project, BTW, back from the time when Apple was a record label for some
famous bugs, rather than a bug from some famous record labels :-)

What period of time do you cover?

Yuv

Yuv,

In the sixties and seventies we had a lot of offshore radio stations on the Northsea. On the Dutch coast we had Radio Veronica and Radio Noordzee (and Radio Northsea International for the English service). They all had there own record charts and you could get a weekly copy on paper sheet in the record store. In those days I collected the Radio Noordzee Top 50. The charts had besides Dutch and English also French, German, Spanish and Itailan music.

The last years a lot of those Dutch paper sheets are being digitionalized by chartfreaks. In 2009 I started the "Radio Noordzee scan project" and I managed to borrow charts from eight other collectors. No one has a complete collection, but all charts are fortunately available. Last year we scanned all charts by hand and the size (55 x 15 and 48 x 16) resulted into 4 scans (front and back) for each chart. After scanning the search for a good scanning program started and I found Hugin. The first scans went all right and a final result is attached.

In total I have to stitch 175 front and back sides. Some paper sheets are written on, have adhesive tape or perforation holes and that results in more of less paintshop work. After that hobby is finished for all the charts it will be available for the interested people who liked the radio station and the music of those years. The Radio Noordzee Top 50 was broadcasted from 21 February 1971 thru the end of August 1974.

I prefer the original paper sheets above the spreadsheet or database versions. They sometimes contain mistakes and the scans give you the opportunaty to see the differences and make corrections.

When I see the time of your response I think you live in another time zone.

Regards,
Hans

Yes. Ontario, Canada. There was a time when I was a lot in The Netherlands.
Beautiful country.

I can reproduce the bug on an own imageset. However, all (applicable) projections showed this error. I ended up converting my input files from png to tif, that did the trick.

Yuv, Benjamin,

I downloaded Hugin 2011.4.0 and tried it with several converted input files (Benjamin's suggestion) and different output file types. It didn't do the trick for me.

Tomorrow I try it on an older Hugin version. One of the projects went well. Now I have some time to stitch the scanned images.

Do you have other suggestions with the recent versions?

Last summer we went to California and other states. The nature in the National Parks was great.

Hans
