Bug Description

I have been using Hugin for some years with great success until the latest release. I now find that

1. Simple two image panoramas seem to stitch properly

2. More complex panos. don't join well at all - the final image looks really poor with the joins being very obvious.

3. On stitching, the joined images are often displayed vertically. They can usually be corrected by clicking the level button.

4. After a while, the preview window starts displaying strange geometric sets of coloured lines and I must start a new project.

For all practical purposes, the software appears to be useless. Please note that other packages such as MS ICE and the panorama creator in Zoner Photo studio are stitching the same sets of images without any problems.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Hugin several times but it is still behaving eratically. The version is 2016.0.0 installed from the file HuginSetup_2016.0.0-win32 (2).exe, 27,304 KB.

I thought I had attached 5 screen shots but I can't see them here. Tried again.

Update on this problem.

Although both MS ICE and Zoner Photo Studio are stitching my test images quite well and reliably, I notice that the joins are not perfect. The set of 5 images that are giving me problems using Hugin are not all that good. They were taken by hand without a tripod or pano head and were quite close (opposite side of a street). This might be why Hugin is having problems, but it is consistently displaying erratic behaviour that the other software is not.

I would therefore like to withdraw this bug report as I don't want to have to get involved sending further screen shots, error logs etc. I will just use MS ICE, which seems to be reliable and consistent, despite its limitations compared to Hugin.

Cheers,

Arthur Locke.

Further update

I remembered that I have an earlier version of Hugin installed on another desktop. The version is 2012.0.0.a6e4184ad538 built by Matthew Petroff.

Using this version I stitched the same 5 images that have been causing me problems in the latest version. It worked perfectly with little or no intervention on my part. A perfect result first time. The Hugin I have used and loved in the past! Even earlier versions were just as good.

Cheers,
Arthur Locke.
