System keeps getting ACPI: EC: timeout message

Bug Description

System keeps getting following messages:

ACPI: EC: acpi_ec_wait timeout, status = 8, expect_event = 1
ACPI: EC: read timeout, command = 164

Tried to add acpi=off in kernel option, which results black screen after reboot.

Don't know anything about the system. But if it is dual core try acpi=off & apic=off and see what happens.

You want acpi on so it's either an older kernel issue or the embedded control has something wrong and needs an update to fix it.
