Unable to backup a folder with embedded spaces in the name

Bug Description

I'm trying to do a backup of files on a FAT32 partition, specifically a folder named 'Our Documents'. I can browse to the folder and select it in the hubackup GUI without any problems but when I press the 'Backup' button, the progress screen appears and almost instantly shows 'Finished', although progress icons show:
'Preparing backup' - Red circle (record?)
'Writing the backup' - pause symbol
'Verifying the backup' - pause symbol
and my desktop still shows a 'Blank CD-R disc'

If I rename the folder 'Our_Documents' it seems to work OK, but I'd rather keep the original name as it's embedded in the catalogue of the software that came with my digital camera.

PS I'm running the tool from the terminal via 'gksu hubackup' as I originally thought that the problem could be lack of permissions, and I think the problem may be the way that hubackup is formatting the parameters to 'dar', not expecting / allowing for embedded spaces in the selected folder name.

Hi Rob,

IIRC Martin Bergner (another fellow on the project) has a patch for that on one of the branches. Martin do you know where it is so it can be incorporated into mainline and uploaded?

Thanks

Hi Sivan

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

With hindsight I guess I could have got around the problem with a link, but didn't think of it at the time.

Regards
Rob

This issue will be fixed, and there will be an improved version of HUBackup with restoration working etc. I hope you will still be interested in testing it when we release it :) Again, thank you for your time!
