Printing from iMindmap software results in squashed text

Bug Description

Recently changed to an HP Deskjet 3050 Printer and installed HPLIP software

Tried printing some mindmaps from iMindmap Pro 5 and have a problem

The branches and text print ok. But the text in the central idea and any floating text boxes is all squashed and overlayered into one line and cannot be read

I have been liaising with iMindmap tech support and they think the issue is with the printer as print preview renders perfectly

Are you aware of any known issues of this type?

Grateful for your advice

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the attachments. From the attachment it looks like application does not generate the correct PS file which is actually sent to a printer driver as an input. For more information please see the attachment (ScreenShort.png). Please contact application team for resolving the issue.

Thanks,
Sanjay

Thanks Sanjay

I also have a call raised with the iMindmap support team and have passed
your comment on to them

In the meantime, for your information, I would note the following:

1) I have used the Linux version of the iMindmap software for 3 years

2) During that time, I have printed mindmaps on a 7 year old Canon i865
and a 4 yr old Epson SX600 without any problems whatsoever

3) My new 1 month old HP 3050 printer is the only printer I have had problems
with

Sadly, if I am unable to get a resolution for this soon, I will have to dump
the HP printer and avoid purchasing HP in future. This is simply because I
am a student and I depend a lot on the iMindmap software to support my study
and need the ability to print my mindmaps properly

Thanks again for your help to date

Hi,

Thanks for the update. Do you see any diffrence between PS file generated from the application (d00089-001.ps) and the actual printed document?? I am not if you are able to see the problem in the PS file itself or in the actual printed output only. If PS file (d00089-001.ps) looks OK for you then definately there is an issue on driver side. Please attach the scanned image of actual printout and also send me the following logs in case you feel PS file and actual printout are not same .

=>Enable/Clear Logs as mentioned below
    a)Open /etc/cups/cupsd.conf in root mode and replace
        LogLevel warn
          with
       LogLevel debug
       hpLogLevel 15
    b) Open Terminal and run following commands:
       => su
       => /etc/init.d/cups restart
                  or
       => service cups restart
       => cd /tmp
       => rm *.out
       => rm *.bmp
       => cat dev/null > /var/log/cups/error_log
       => hp-check -t > /tmp/hpcheck.log
    c) Try to print the file and If issue is not resolved then please send following files
          => /var/log/syslog (if present),
          => /var/log/messages (if present),
          => /var/log/cups/error_log
          => /tmp/*.bmp
          => /tmp/*.out
          => /tmp/hpcheck.log

Thanks,
Sanjay

The PS file and the print out are the same
I will attach a scan
So you are suggesting then the software is not compatible with HP printers?

In the absence of any further information, I will assume the problem is not going to be fixed anytime soon and I will dump my HP printer and replace it with one that works.
