HP Officejet 6500a - Not scanning on ADF or on Webscan

Hi,

I have just bought the 6500a and everything prints fine no problem.

I read all the other bugs saying that the latest hplip would fix all issues but for me it hasn't.

Can someone help before I return it and get a epson?? I don't want to as I like this printer and all the features. Please help.

When I try to use sane it will not detect the auto feeder but whe I try through webscan it will detect it and feed through. I thought using the webscan would be fine for me but the scans are blank!??? I don't mind using webscan as long as I can scan multiple docs.

I am using linux mint 11.

If you do recommend a patch, I am a bit of a noob, can you just explain how to implement the patch or whatever it is.

I appreciate any help.

Hi Paula,

Thank you for the hp-check output.

There are several missing dependencies and hplip version is very old . My request is to upgrade the hplip version to 3.11.10 . There are installation instruction provided for this at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/linuxmint.html.

Let us know on the same.

Hi Paul,

By default hpijs ppd is getting picked up . Please use hpcups path. Still the hplip version is 3.11.1 please upgrade it to 3.11.10. This will solve you print problem also.
