Can you please follow the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems, especially also the sections "CUPS error_log" and "Capturing print job data"?

Can you also bott from a live CD of Oneiric and try to print from there to see whether the problem went away in Oneiric (you do not need to install the drivers from HP there, the newest version is already included).

Changed in cups (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Terry - I am using Debian Linux here and managed to get my D1660 to print successfully by doing the following:

Driver used: HP Deskjet d1600 Series, hpcups

Then go to Job Options and scroll down for "Image Options". Change the "Scaling" setting from the default (100%), to 99%.

The printer would not print using the d1600 hpijs driver. Although it printed with the d1600 hpcups driver, the footers at the bottom of each page would print with a mix of colors and were uneven. When I found the "Image Scaling" setting and changed this to 99%, the footer now prints a little higher up on the page, but it now prints properly and without any of the colors mixing.

Hope this helps. :)

Can someone of the HPLIP developers at HP have a look into this? Thanks.
