Bug Description

My new Deskjet 3000 prints some sort of pdf or ps source code instead of the actual document. I have compiled and installed newest version of hplip an my Debian 6.0. Everything went good, printer appears in CUPS. When printing any document raw text beginning with "%PDF-1.3..." comes out. I have no idea what is wrong.

Hi,

This is caused because of the hpijs install in your system by default than hpcups. We recommand you to configure hplip-3.11.7 with hpcups-install.

Please follow the link http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/debian.html to download "hplip-3.11.7.run" file and install it manually with configuration provided in the link.

After the install of hplip-3.11.7 with hpcups please post us the "hp-check -t" output.

Let us know on the same.

Thanks & Regards,
Goutam Kodu

Hi,

You can try this also.

In the ppd file (Deskjet_3000_J310.ppd (22.4 KiB, text/plain)), replace the following:

*cupsFilter: "application/vnd.cups-postscript 100 foomatic-rip-hplip"
*cupsFilter: "application/vnd.cups-pdf 0 foomatic-rip-hplip"

Change it to :

*cupsFilter: "application/vnd.cups-postscript 0 foomatic-rip-hplip"
*cupsFilter: "application/vnd.cups-pdf 100 foomatic-rip-hplip"

Once the change is done and saved in /etc/cups/ppd/Deskjet_3000_J310.ppd file, restart the cups and try printing.

If this doesn't solve your problem, upgrade to latest hplip-3.11.7 as mentioned earlier.

Thanks,
Sarbeswar Meher
