Bug Description

OS - UBUNTU 11.04 (32 bit)
Printer - HP Deskjet d1560 (USB)
Keyboard - Toshiba wireless multimedia (integrated mousepad)
Mouse - Genius NetScroll Optical (wired, PS2)

I downloaded hplip-3.11.5 and got to Step 10 in the walkthrough (http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html). When I re-plugged in my printer as prompted, the keyboard stopped responding and the mouse pointer disappeared off the screen. I had to restart without a proper shut-down.

Now whenever I plug in the printer the mouse and keyboard stop responding (although the pointer remains on screen). They resume working, when the printer is unplugged. This happens regardless of whether the printer power supply is connected or not. It also happens regardless of whether I boot into Ubuntu or Vista. When it happens, there is no response from the keyboard whatsoever - you cannot toggle caps lock, switch windows etc.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling HPLIP with no result. It is definitely what caused the problem, because prior to the attempted installation the printer could be plugged in with no ill effects under either operating system and functioned normally under Vista (however, UBUNTU couldn't see it).

Please help!

Hi,

Can you please attach the out-put of "hp-check -t" and "lsusb -v" commands.

Thanks,
