MIME types fax/document type cannot fax through application CUPS printer

The faxing feature in the officejet 5600 for Ubuntu 10.04 doesn't work. It explains in device manager in HP toolbox that to print or fax/documents types that do not appear on the list of supported file types, print the document from the application that created it through the appropriate CUPS printer.

The HPLIP is setup correctly with hp-setup and hp-sendfax, i have not upgraded the hplip to the latest version as this tends to be unstable, i have tried this in the past with no success.
