Bug Description
Tried printing on Ubuntu 10.04 . Too slow and such poor print quality as to be next to useless. Takes 15-20 seconds (or more) to start printing and outputs shadowy gray raster of desired print image. For comparison, same PC and printer under Windows XP prints in under 2 seconds in totally crisp fonts.
Updated Ubuntu install of HPLIP to 3.10.5 . This is much faster but loses settings and although initially printed whole jobs (two or more pages) quickly. Now stating to pause for seconds or more between pages.
Willing to assist in defining problem better, and target behavior to achieve. Can similar print quality and speed be achieved using HPLIP, or is it a limitation of Linux or your driver? Does HPLIP no longer support PCL or the correct font mapping?
