Bug Description

It took me long before I managed installing F4580 wireless with HPLIP 3.10.5 under Ubuntu 10.4, openSUSE and other distros.
At last I found it has been caused by printer's URI.
After installing I had to change the URI from (in my case)
from
hp:/net/Deskjet_F4500_series?zc=HP0864D5
to
hp:/net/Deskjet_F4500_series?ip=192.168.1.6
After this change everything works fine including the scanner. Without the ip address the scanner could not be found.

Just to inform you,
Regards,
Thies

Yes! for Network printers URI should have Printer's IP Address.
Please run "hp-probe -g" and post the output.
Thanks for providing detailed information.

Dear Naga Samrat,

Here the output from hp-probe -g

Done.

As far as I can see my ubuntu firewall is switched on by gufw (incoming

not understand the warnings.

I enclose screen dumps made during the HPLIP process.

I have one of these printers set up for my home network, a mixed Ubuntu/Windows environment. The setup routine is horribly Windows-centric. To get it working I had to connect the printer by USB cable to my Windows system and run a mysterious program I found on the CD. That set it up enough that I could disconnect the printer and fiddle with the settings via web interface.
