SELECT FROM DISCOVERED DEVICE
I see my printer in this list
Model = HP Laserjet P1005
Device URL = hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_P1005?serial=BC1KZ8H
I click NEXT
DRIVER PLUG-IN INSTALLATION
* Download and install the plug-in from an HP authorized server (recommended)
I select this and click NEXT
After some times I show the error message

" ERROR : Plug-in file not found (server returned 404 or similar error).
Error Code : no host given . "

My hp-check -t result is :

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the
proper dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP
supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time
dependencies).

I'm having exactly the same problem. Running Ubuntu 10.04. It sits on the last line (see the bottom of this post) for a number of minutes and then gives up with "Error: Plug-in file not found (server returned 404 or similar error). Error code: [Errno 104] Connection reset by peer".

Has your server been up and down lately??

Looks like something is flaky. It finally worked after a few goes. The printer doesn't print though - but that's another problem.

I experience a similar problem: I do not manage to let HPLIP Device Manager to recognize my HP Color LaserJet 2600n printer.
It sees the network printer but it is not able to download/install the requested plug-in.
Any suggestion, please?

Thanks
