Bug Description

using hplip-3.9.8 works as expected with cups-1.4.1

with cups-1.4.2, I get this:

D [03/Dec/2009:14:11:55 +0000] PID 5885 (/usr/local/lib/cups/backend/hp) stopped with status 1!

Note that cups-1.4.2 can be compiled with a usb backend using cups internal usb interface or with a usb backend using libusb, this problem occurs with both versions. The problem also occurs with hplip-3.9.10.
