I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 (linux 2.6.38-11-generic). The same thing happens to me. I'm also using a 940c.

Hi Miles,

Can you provide us the output of "hp-check -t" command and "hp-align -g" command.

Thanks & Regards,

I am now on ubuntu 12.04 LTS with hplib from the ubuntu repository. Same problem.

I put the output of "hp-check -t" as attachment.

Here's the output of hp-align -g:

kmarien@Evo-D310:~$ hp-align -g

Hi,
I encounter the same problem with a deskjet 920C printer :
No example page printed at the first step of alignment procedure.
Next, if I enter values for A, B, C and D, an example page is printed to dtermine a value for the edge of the page (it's the step 7 out of 7).
I can enter the correct value, but without any effect :
I have two buttons, "Align", and "Cancel".
If I click "Align", nothing happens. If I click "Cancel", the window closes.

BUT :
I ran the equivalent utility for Windows in a virtualbox session. Then, I just enter the appropriate values for A, B, C and D in the Linux utility.
It seems that the printing quality is better, so the utility really aligns the cartridges.

So, the only practical issues would be to print the example page and an intuitive exit menu at the end.

Thanks and best regards !

Jean-Luc

I have a workaround for this issue that works in ubuntu 12.04 and later (previous versions I didn't test)

From the terminal type:

hp-align -i

this will start the alignement procedure in terminal and does print the align page.

When started with gui I don't know how to fix this but doing this once with the new cartridges is sufficiant. You only have to repeat the procedure when changing the inkt cartridges.

Succes!

HI again,
I forgot to mention I use :
Opensuse 12.3 ;
HPLIP 3.13.10 (qt4), but same issue with the stable package 3.12.11)
HP Deskjet 920c, quite similar, AFAIK, to 940c.

Thanks and best regards !
