Subject: [Pkg-hpijs-devel] Bug#503972: [Fwd: hplip reports incorrect cartridge part numbers Package: hplip]
Date: Thursday 30 October 2008
From: Arthur Marsh <email address hidden>
To: Debian Bug Tracking System <email address hidden>

Package: hplip
Version: 2.8.6.b-3 Severity: important

I have an HP Officejet Pro K5300.

Recently the yellow and black ink cartridges ran out.

The yellow cartridge was reported as 88 (C9388) / 88L (C9393)
and the black cartridge was reported as 88 (C9396) / 88L (C9385) the
"supplies" section of hp-toolbox.

However, the correct cartridges for this printer are 18 (C4939A) for
yellow, and 18 (C4936A) for black.

1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before
compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper
dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.

2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a
distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied
tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.

3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This
mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time
dependencies).

Aurthur,

Thanks for the report.

I've now forwarded upstream.

I've experienced the same problem with a ColorLaserJet 2605DN

The HPLIP "supplies" tab indicates the unit uses toner models Q3960 - Q3963 whereas the printer actually uses toner model Q6000A - Q6003A

Should I file a separate bug report or will this "me too" suffice?

rbmorse,

Thanks for the additional detail.

No need to file a separate bug, your update has been captured in the launchpad
BTS as well.

Thanks,
Mark

The supplies are also incorrect for HP LaserJet 3052, currently C7115A/C7115X are displayed, which is incorrect.
