I'm on a dual core machine running 8.04(64bit) and am having problems with a HP P1005 printer connected via usb.
The printer has been working fine for a few days (it's a new install) but has stopped printing.
This is the second time. I went through loads of howto's bug reports etc to get it working and eventually it started printing again. Part of what I did was to remove all the files in:
/usrshare/hplip/data/plugins/
/usrshare/hplip/data/firmware/
/usrshare/hplip/prnt/plugins/
& restart.
the printer worked again, but I had been so disorganised I'm not sure what all the other things were I had done (although I'd been round & round 100's of times doing them... flatspin sorry :(

... can't get this to run :(
I read somewhere that this could have to do with 2 lots of firmware, i had firmware from foo2xjx homepage (from linuxprinting) and later from hp-setup itself. the later is the one that seemed to work, but now, 2 days later... printer has stopped again & these are the same symptoms as before.
is this a bug? the system is pretty much default.
Also - and i dont know if this is relevant, the machine keeps losing the ability to resolve site names online ie google etc... reason i mention it is because it's happened both times the printer gave up.

... can't get this to run :(
I read somewhere that this could have to do with 2 lots of firmware, i had firmware from foo2xjx homepage (from linuxprinting) and later from hp-setup itself. the later is the one that seemed to work, but now, 2 days later... printer has stopped again & these are the same symptoms as before.
is this a bug? the system is pretty much default.
Also - and i dont know if this is relevant, the machine keeps losing the ability to resolve site names online ie google etc... reason i mention it is because it's happened both times the printer gave up.

I'm on a dual core machine running 8.04(64bit) and am having problems with a HP P1005 printer connected via usb.
The printer has been working fine for a few days (it's a new install) but has stopped printing.
This is the second time. I went through loads of howto's bug reports etc to get it working and eventually it started printing again. Part of what I did was to remove all the files in:
/usrshare/hplip/data/plugins/
/usrshare/hplip/data/firmware/
/usrshare/hplip/prnt/plugins/
& restart.
the printer worked again, but I had been so disorganised I'm not sure what all the other things were I had done (although I'd been round & round 100's of times doing them... flatspin sorry :(

I'm sorry to have to admit that I have no idea what this means, but post it out of relevance from the fact that it's when I plug the printer in & it's failed.
ALSO - I have the same symptoms as bug#210738 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-config-printer/+bug/210738 but no stackless python.
