Bug Description

Hello. I have successfully installed network printer HP LaserJet M1522n MFP using CUPS. Printing works, but I can't manage it to make network scanning work.

HPLIP Toolbox shows only "ERROR: No device found or unsupported device", but I see my printer there in the left pane with the red X symbol.

My working printer configuration in CUPS is:
Description: HP_LaserJet_M1522n_MFP
Location:
Printer Driver: HP LaserJet M5025 MFP Postscript (recommended)
Printer State: idle, accepting jobs, published.
Device URI: hp:/net/HP_LaserJet_M1522n_MFP?ip=192.168.1.192

I added "hpaio" to /etc/sane.d/dll.conf.

$ export SANE_DEBUG_HPAIO=128
$ export SANE_DEBUG_DLL=128
$ xsane hpaio:/net/HP_LaserJet_M1522n_MFP?ip=192.168.1.192

There is a problem with the default user privileges. Giving yourself the privilege to "Use scanners" under the "Users and Groups" app should fix this problem.

Go there and search for your printer. It says that "scan to pc" is not supported. If I'm interpreting correctly, this is the root of your problem?

Martin,

As per Nanley the problem is because in hardy the user isn't added to the scanning group by default. We are working with Ubuntu to try and resolve this.

Thanks for your support for HPLIP--Nanely too!

Aaron

Just note that adding myself to group scanner don't help.
