HPLIP installation stops protonvpn operating

Bug Description
In the past have used HPLIP and ProtonVPN on an stock 22.04 install over past 6 months or so there has been a conflict. I can either use HPLIP or ProtonVPN
Have attached some logs which indicate a python attributes error, which I do not understand. Have repeatedly asked proton for help but they have washed there habnd of it.
Happy to help with some suggestions
